This painting is my latest and last. I really enjoyed painting this because it was very unique and different. We were told to start from the back which was interesting. The many different shades of purples that I used contrasted together perfectly with the hues of green. I actually loved this piece because the grass was green but the trees where black, as if they were burnt. This really created a image that I did not expect! The diversity of skills that I used to create this painting was massive. I loved this project however I would like to redo it because I know that I could do better and better!
This is my dreamscape. We were told to create something that represented some of our strongest memories feelings. This piece might not have been the most creative or mysterious piece but I enjoy it. The piece is a drawing of two roads that run parallel in the rain. Then, slowly, they divide. The top road stays golden, continuing to run upwards. The bottom spirals out of control and takes much longer to get back on track. The colors associated with this image are important as well. The blue signifies hope; purple: compassion; red: anger; black: despair; gold: perfection. This was an emotional point in my life and I feel like this piece shows my true feelings. Emotions are powerful
Today we finished our lino prints. This project was actually really fun because we got to carve into linoleum. This gave each project a unique design. I got to give me project texture that otherwise it would have lacked. This flower design was, I must say, one of my better works. I tried it in other colors but the red and black turned out the best. When it comes to color design the Nazi Party and Coca Cola have the right idea; red and black is powerful. Anyways I loved this project and would be happy to create a different design but try a face instead of a flower!
My first experiences with these new pens was bad. I hated collecting ink every time my pen ran out--it was so annoying. But after I started I soon lost this annoyance because my art looked amazing. The main point of this project was to my shape. I decided on drawing a flower because it uses many different shapes: circles, triangles, squares. I knew I had mastered this technique after my 3rd draft of the flower. Also, I focused on texture. The texture of this flower was made because I used different methods of sketching: cross-hatching, dots, parallel lines. I enjoyed this peoject even if it took me many drafts to complete.
I know that this painting is late, but I enjoyed painting my self portrait more so I took more time. But, I think this painting came out as well. I took this photo outside by the math hallway. Oh—I doubt this little plant would ever think he would be the subject of a painting someday. I started using layers in this watercolor of light brown and gray. Slowly, with many other colors, my painting came together! The combination of created the illusion of a depth and helped the plant look realist. while this was not my best piece I tried very hard and did my best.
Believe it or not, this was my first self portrait. I always thought artists self portraits looked easy to draw because it is their own face, but it's actually really hard! I had to come to acceptance of my flaws: pimples, blemishes and all. The first thing i had to create with this portrait was proportion to create a realistic look of my face. After i was done drawing I used light colors to start the face. It took a long time to complete but i am proud of.
This is my leave composition. I have had fun with this piece because of the medium I got to use: paint. I love paint. It is far more versitile and powerful then pencil. I liked how I could manipulate different colors to make "sharp shades of art". I felt like my painting was very good and shadows might risk me loosing my perfection. Therefore, I do not have as many shadows as some would like however I think it is still beautiful. The boarder that I added was my own design and I thought it brought the painting together. I am very happy with this experience.
This was the last piece of my groups triptych: my piece. Overall, I enjoyed the composition of this piece, even if we were off on the unitity of some corners. Everyone has told us that they look a lot like the hallways we drew. We focused on one point perspective to create different ideas of size and space. This was done in pencil and I learned that in order to shade correctly, the flow of the pencil must be the same. This project was hard but very fun.
Today I completed my "One Point Perspective Room" Piece. I must admit that it was hard for me to conceptualize this idea. I struggled to over lap every line. Although I struggled with this piece I did perfect one point perspective drawings. Everything can be traced backup one point in my drawing! Also I enhanced my design with the use of shading. Shading objects to bedarker and lighter made them stand out from each other. The combination of these skills created a balance in my picture that I really enjoy. Lastly, in this piece I am glad to say that I took a risk; I drew curtains in my room. Curtains were not taught to is however I felt that they really drew together my room.
Today I completed my "Squares in Space" Piece. I must admit that it was hard for me to conceptualize this idea. I struggled to fit every line together- not because I am a perfectionist but because it was confusing to me! Although I struggled with this piece I did learn how to use the element of space in a one point perspective. Zoom! Everything can be traced back! Also I perfected my design with the use of contrast. Contrasting darker and lighter lines my shapes were able to stand out from each other. The combination of these skills created a balance in my picture that I really enjoy. Lastly, in this piece I am glad to say that I took a risk; I drew a circle into one of the squares. I am not sure if it is right but I do like the look of it!
